CARDBOARD CONNECT FOUR

 While we continue to live life indoors during quarantine, ordering online has become the new normal for us. I've been trying to save all of the nice boxes for possible crafts to make for the family. Last week, I got to use some when I decided to try recreating a classic board game: Connect Four! After researching a number of videos on how to make it, I gave it a shot. I didn't pay attention to any measurements from the videos I saw; I just winged it. I've included a template of what I ended up making for each type of cardboard piece that was glued together.

STEPS & TEMPLATE

Steps: ​

1. Cut 2 pieces of cardboard 12.5" x 10.75"
2. Measure and trace 30 circles on each of the cardboard pieces about 1.5"diameter. There should be 6 vertical rows of 5 holes.
3. Cut out the 60 traced circles and set aside. 
4. Cut out 40 circles about 1.65" diameter and set aside. 
5. Cut out 7 cardboard strips 10.75" x .5" 
6. Hot glue the cardboard strips upright in between each vertical row of circle cutouts on one of the cardboard pieces. 
7. Attach the remaining cardboard piece with hot glue, lining up the 7 glued down strips in between the rows of circle cutouts and making sure circle cutouts line up. 
8. Cut out 2 cardboard side pieces using shape shown below. Make a slight horizontal cut roughly 2" from bottom of each side piece. 
9. Hot glue the cardboard side pieces to the main piece with the holes, making sure the tops line up with the top of the main piece. 
10. Cut 1 cardboard piece for bottom of game. 12.5" x 3.5" 
11. Hot glue along sides and attach. 
12. Cut 2 cardboard strips for ledges. 12.5" x 1" 
13. Hot glue upright on the front and back bottom edges. 
14. Cut out cardboard strip for trap door. 14.5" x 1" 
15. Slide trap door into slits cut on side panels. 
16. Take 3 circles 1.5" diameter, stack and hot glue on top of each other. 
17. Make sure to pinch (crush) down the cardboard to flatten the circle. 
18. Take 2 circles 1.65" diameter and hot glue to each side like a sandwich.
19. Make sure to also crush down to flatten circle. 
20. To finish off game pieces, you can cut a strip of cardboard .5" thick and wrap along the edge of circle, adhering with hot glue. 
21. Paint is up to you. Original game was yellow/blue with black/red game pieces.
