A favorite treat from my youth. I make them mini, but eating all of them seems to defeat the purpose. Share your pop tarts online and tag @mamalovesto #mamalovesto. Prep time: 20 minutes Cook time: 25 minutes Inactive time: 1 hour 40 minutes Total time: 2 hours 25 minutes INGREDIENTS LISTFOR THE POP TARTS
2 1/4 cups flour 1/4 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs yolks 1 cup Butter 1 -2 cups chocolate spread or nutella 1 -2 cups marshmallow fluff FOR THE GLAZE 4 tablespoons butter, melted 2 tablespoons coco powder 2 cups powdered sugar 4 tablespoons hot water 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers mini marshmallows for topping DIRECTIONS Pre-heat oven to 400F. Combine the flour, eggs, and sugar in a bowl. Add the butter and cut into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingers. Continue until the mixture resembles coarse sand and the butter is the size of small peas. Add the cold water a tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together into a ball. Divide into two and form each into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Roll out into a large rectangle about to about 1/8th inch thick. Trim so edges are straight. Cut into 8 5x3-inch rectangles. Repeat with second disk. Gather trimmed dough scraps together and re-roll as needed. Fill a plastic sandwich bag (or a piping bag) with the marshmallow fluff and fill another bag with the chocolate spread. Leaving about a 1/4 inch or 1/2 an inch border around the edges, cut the tip off each bag and pipe stripes of marshmallow fluff and chocolate down the center of the dough. Wet your finger with a little water and run it around the bare edges of the dough. Add a top layer of pie dough and press the edges down to seal in the chocolate and marshmallow fluff. Take a fork and press the edges sealed all the the way around the pop tart. Bake at 400F for about 10 minutes. (Don't over bake them or you won't have any chocolate or marshmallow left in the center) Remove from oven and place on a wire tray to cool. Once they're cool, start making the glaze. In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter and coco powder. Add in the powdered sugar and hot water. Mix until smooth. Use a spoon and scoop the glaze out onto the pop tarts. Use the back of the spoon to smooth it over the top of the pop tarts. If it starts to get too thick in the bowl while you're glazing the pop tarts just pop the bowl into the microwave for about 5-10 seconds. Glaze will harden as it cools. While the glaze is still wet, sprinkle a little crushed graham crackers over the glaze. Let pop tarts sit for just a bit until glaze dries. Add mini marshmallows and torch, then serve. .
