Just over a year ago, I woke up and decided to do something new. Something that always scared me. I decided that I was going to take some of the ideas swirling around my head and write a script. I agreed to hear my self-doubt out. I listened as she told me I wasn't good enough, that I was wasting my time, that I wasn't smart enough. I told her, "Thank you for your awful feedback, but I'm going in another direction." What if I just kept learning this new skill? What if I took it one day at a time? What if I believed for a moment that maybe I could do it?
I'm not saying that when you turn 40 years old that you suddenly have things figured out, but I am saying that you take a hard look at why you haven't yet. I took a number of online classes with Sundance Collab (this is not an ad, but seriously, I am grateful) on screenwriting, visual storytelling, and directing actors (to name a few), and I also became part of the most wonderful group of writers who have helped me along the way. They encouraged and inspired me when I was ready to give up. Getting to this point has taken a lot of time, focus, hard work, late nights, rewrites, do-overs, lessons in confidence, lessons in humility, and so much more; but I have something I'm ready to bring to life and share with everyone. With that being said, today I am launching the crowdfunding campaign for my short film, "Arlene". Please, take a look at the link and if you can, donate! If you can't, share it on social media and help get the word out! With your help, the next few steps in this process can hopefully become the beginning of a beautiful new journey. Thank you!
